Tips To Help You Choose A Theme For Your Youth Conference

If you are trying to plan a youth conference for your church for the first time, the process can seem somewhat daunting. There are many factors you have to consider in the process and many decisions you will have to make. One of the most important decisions you will need to make is deciding on a theme for your youth conference. If you are struggling with this decision, here are a few tips to help you out in the process.

Pray About It

One of the best things you can do when you are faced with a big decision or a big choice is to pray about it. Pray, pray, and pray some more. Talk to God about the decision you face and ask for His guidance. He will inevitably show you the way and help lead you to a decision that is right for you and the youth you are serving.

A good idea is to pray about it at least three times a day. If you can do so more, that is even better. Give yourself a week of deep contemplation and prayer before you really start to list out theme ideas for your youth conference. With the will of God, you will be able to list several viable and excellent ideas by the end of that week of prayer.

Try to Come Up With Themes Based on Current Events

When you do sit down to come up with ideas for the theme for your youth conference, you will want to take current events into account in the process. With the recent pandemic and the tragic murder of George Floyd, there are two current event topics that you can choose from.

You could talk about race and racism, for example, and you can show what the Bible and God teach about race, racism, and the love of all mankind. If you base your theme on something in current events, you will be relating to the youth at your conference on a deeper level as it will be an issue that hits close to home for them. It will also likely draw more young people to sign up for your conference.

Form a Theme-Choosing Committee

If you do not want to have to decide on the theme of your youth conference all on your own, a great option is to form a theme-choosing committee. Ask parishioners of the church to volunteer to help choose the theme. You will likely get a good-sized group of enthusiastic and faith-filled people to help you narrow down the choices and come up with a theme that is perfect for your youth conference.

Now that you know a few tips to help you choose a theme for your youth conference, you can get the process started right away.
